Microsoft recently revealed a few more tasty details regarding the upcoming WinFS features of longhorn, and this article summarizes and expands on some details given by Bob Muglia in a recent interview.
This article also touches some interesting topics such as Avalon, the upcoming display technology and some other directions Microsoft is moving.

It will be interesting to see how users feel about this new file system.

There really is not a new file system. WinFS is just a way to store data and it works with NTFS. I think WinFS, if MS does it right, will be a great thing. Now you can find things on your hard drives even faster, supposedly. Maybe it will have some of the power that Unix has had for a while now in the searching area, or it may look more like SQL statements when trying to find something. Could be interesting.

The problem with WinFS so far is how it takes soo long to update. Since it's a DB oriented approach it does a great job of finding relationships and letting users search using "SQL like" syntax but the version that came with the last Longhorn release was extremely slow..
