Too many good bands to choose a favorite, but Ben Folds has been on my mind a lot lately, so I suppose that is my current favorite! I just saw him play in Hartford, it must have been one of the best shows that I've seen (and I've seen a lot)! What a showman! I strongly reccommend seeing Ben Folds if you get a chance. Weezer is great, too!

NewOrder makes good coding music. I only recently discovered weezer's blue album, going to have to get the rest now.
I have also found a steady stream of trance to be very effective.

New Order is the best band ever...
For programming, I like DJ Icey. Also, Propellerheads' Decksandrumsandrockandroll has helped me write 10,000 to 20,000 lines of code.

Definitely the Tragically Hip. Once you hear them live, you're hooked for life.

TMBG is good, I saw them live last year, and the new album is excellent. However, my favorite band is Goldfinger. I also enjoy Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Bad Religion, Suicide Machines, Pilfers and I could go on forever.

If you're stuck in some weird ass infinite loop, the only way out is through the power of the jam band. Check out some Disco Biscuits, Phish, String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain String Band, etc. Those will solve all your problems and get your foot tapping at the same time. Check 'em out: http://db.etree.org/schpider.

Garbage. The ambient rock sound is catchy. Plus, the voice is nice on the ears.

I'd have to say either Tool or Mushroomhead (gotta love Mushroomhead. The best rock band to ever come out of Cleveland...).

I dig most of the bands aforementioned, but I would like to add one: The Aquabats.

I'm thinking its DMB all the way. Few bands can jam like they do, and few bands put on a show as good as theirs. Their music is constantly evolving from album to album. The only thing I wish they did more of is story songs. I must say though that for story songs, Ben Folds is the best.
