I have been buying parts for whiteboxes from a website for about a year now without any problems, however I just had one and the support I received is about the worst I have ever had. Being a college student, I have never had a lot of time to deal with probelms, so I have always sold quality parts or none at all - I can't afford to give support, so I need to minimize it. Another nice thing was they sold pre-assembled bare bones systems at no extra charge (but saved on shipping for the them).
Anyway, I guess I am asking what are the experiences that people have had with online retailers? This is not on a personal/hobby level - this is business so price counts, but service and quality are more important. Any suggestions where I should turn? Any suggestions on places to avoid?
Update: The place that recently screwed me over was mwave. I have been on the phone with them a couple of times and things are mostly worked out - but it is still incredibly aggravating when the support is terrible. Also, thanks to everyone for the other stores - most of them look quite good.

I've used numorous places with out problems:
buy.com
amazon.com
ritzcamera.com
computer123.com
www.monarchcomputer.com
and a lot of others, I usually use www.pricewatch.com to find the cheapest prices.
Just out of curiosity what place did you go through?
I know Neel had some order problems last year, and other people similar problems with that same company. I'm not sure what the name of it is off hand, but just look him up on devhood (Neel Agrawal) he may not be on until after break but if you email him he would probably get back with you tell him I told you to contact him (he knows me).

I like Netseller.com for inexpensive parts (such as memory, I once got a 512MB PC133 stick for about $35), and Tigerdirect.com for items that can't be found on Netseller.

Not at all. Newegg is nothing related to egghead at all.

Does anyone know if any of these places are offering webservices yet for their products listings? I think this is a really cool idea and I want to make an application (or web page) to search from all of my favorite stores at once.

another thumbs up for newegg... they ship pretty quick. Also, if the item you want is out of stock you can put down your email and they will send you an email when it comes in stock... and they don't keep your email address on some permanent mailing list... I have never been bothered by them even though I have purchased things in the past from them, that is very refreshing... amazon seems to send me an email every few days, cdnow as well :(

For older, hard to find parts, still haven't found anything to rival eBay.

there is supposedly another site similar to the name that leads you to a porn site (which is the worst thing possible if you are browsing for comp. parts in a public library)

I buy pc parts from newegg.com and mwave.com. Both are very good when it comes to pricing and reliability.

pricewatch.com may find you the lowest pricest but the vendors there seem suspect.
