I know that this isn't very PC related, but it is mobile in essence. So what would be the best for jogging? Has anybody tried one out that could shed some light on the mp3 player situation. I was personally looking at the nomad 2, but I don't know about the belt clip. I need something more stable, please give some advice.

One of my friends has the Sony memory stick walkman, and it is great! It is very small, it is about 4 inches long so you can stick it in your pocket, and it has 64 MB of memory, so it can hold about 15 songs, and that will be plenty of songs for a long jog!

I've read good things about the Nike psa play MP3 player. They built it with the help of SonicBlue and Rio, and it seems designed with the active person in mind.

But aren't these MP3 players kinda featureless? and expensive?

Given the choice, I'd actually forgo the pure MP3 player and get a minidisc player. Just as easy to bring MP3s along w/ you, but with supercheap media.

I don't know about a mindisc player. I have one and I can get it to skip once in a while when I'm just walking to school. It isn't the latest and greatest, but it isn't the first generation ones either.
I don't think a minidisc player will work well if you're joggin.... unless you're like me.... jog for 30 seconds and then have to stop to catch my breath.... :)

The RCA Kazoo~
It's the smallest player, and upgradeable to 128 megs with mmc card.
Cheap, and has xp drivers now~

mp3 players remain the best for non-skip and can be the smallest of all portable players (except maybe a portable radio). I have the original mp3 player, Diamond Rio PMP 300. It's great for activities, no problems and it never skips. It's small enough to put in a pocket if you're worried about dropping it, but I find the clip suffices. It's awesome on battery life. 1 AA runs 12 hours (they advertise) I find it's about 8-10...depending on battery type(NiMH, NiCD or Alkaline) and volume.
if you want a player that is a bit more versitile in terms of usage, try an MP3/CD player. You lose to size benefit, but non-skip works great on MP3's stored on a CD. Since mp3's are compressed, more music time can be stored in the buffer, thus have a longer non-skip time compared to a normal CD. CD's will be the cheapest media and storing mp3's will allow you to store more songs than any other removable media portal device. I recently have seen a Mini-CD version this will definitely help cut down the size... you can no longer play normal CD's however...but it's not worth it's price IMO 'cause it's significantly more expensive.
I've also seen mp3 watches, and mp3/digital cameras if you want a dual purpose device.
(and a neat thing I just saw on some website, a digital camera watch!! cool...just like spies. ;) resolution sucks, but the idea is neat)

i give the 'worst converged device' award to the kodak mc3, which is a digital camera/digital video camera/mp3 player hybrid which does none of those three things well. the photos are like a first-gen camera, the video like a really bad webcam, and the mp3 player is no better than any of the knockoff $90 players. boo-urns. :)
i'd stay away from all this it's-a-phone! it's an mp3 player! it's whatever the next bleeding-edge gadget is! converged stuff :)

If you're going to hold it in your hands while jogging, then a minidisc player works. Otherwise, it'll skip way too much. Personally, I wouldn't go for a MD player since it still requires real-time recording.
Rechargable batteries are a good idea if you're going to be jogging alot. Since you probably don't jog for hours on end, a simple 64/128 MB player would do.

Consider Nike's MP3 player http://www.cnet.com/electronics/0-6342420-1304-4935502.html
takes 1 AA battery, nice form factor, good for jogs.

I am a big fan of the MD player. New compression technology allows you to put 320 minutes of continuous music and the new MD players have pretty good anti-skipping technology. I have used my MD players for a lot of things and it hasn't let me down.
True, you need to record 320 minutes for 320 minutes of music but it is well worth the wait as MD players are so much cheaper and are more advanced than the present day MP3 players.

i tried the nike psa play and it was a disaster. very low quality, broke down after 2 runs. traded it in for another one and exactly the same thing happened. i switched over to the intel pocket concert and have been very satisfied with that one.
