Hard question. They both make some good products.

As for regular cola, I'd have to say I prefer the taste of Pepsi.

Why choose? Mix a drink of all your favorite sodas. Why discriminate among sodas?

I think Pepsi is definitely the best. It's so sweet.

Coke is definetely more popular on a global scale. In some countries (like Australia for one) pepsi is half the cost of coke. As for the taste of them, I really couldn't care less.

This is true. Developers like open source, because developers like tinkering, and like knowing that things will remain consistent. However, home and buisiness users want the reassurance of a knowing that the company that sold the product will be around to service the product for years to come. Open source companies have a harder time makeing money, so their continued existence is more dubious.

I have to agree that coke does indeed taste better. It tends to have more bite than pepsi and goes good with the major food groups i.e. pizza. Also it mixes really well with Jack and Crown... something that the super sweet taste of pepsi could never do right.
However I have to say that if you read this article you'll see that "PepsiCo bests Coca-Cola with a more diversified business, better growth potential, and a more attractive valuation."

It depends on what recipe of coke you're drinking. I know that Coca-Cola tailors their products to each country. What may be coke here may not taste like Coke in other countries. I had Coke in Taiwan and that wasn't nearly as good as the stuff here, but that may be because i'm used to the stuff here.

Very true. The best Coke you'll get is McDonalds coke. UN-BE-LIEVABLE. :)
Then the canned coke, very cold, is almost as good.
The little bottles of coke aren't even that great, nowhere near as nice as the above two.
And two liters are.... fine.

(anyone else notice that every single message in this thread is rated a 1?)

McDonald's coke? I've never had a coke from there that wasn't watered down. Its almost like they try and stretch it with water or something. Also have you ever had one of the original bottled cokes? Ice cold out of one of the old vending machines where you put your money in and pull it out yourself? The taste of coke in the bottle (for me at least) has a noticeable difference from the can (just like beer actually). Its almost like you can taste the metal.

It depends on what recipe of coke you're drinking.

Last year I was in the UK and the Coke there was much better than over here... must be a different "recipe." I also noticed it said something about a "vegatable soft drink" on the side. I thought that was a little odd.

Coca Cola has been around since before the turn of the century and is superior in every aspect. But to prove it here are the facts. Coke is made with carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup and or sucrose, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavors, and caffeine. In a recent study of caffeinated beverages Coke was found to have more caffeine than Pepsi, therefore if you’re tired in the morning you know which one you want. It tastes great too. It is sweet but not overly sweet like Pepsi. Pepsi has some extra thing in it that just gives it all a bad taste. And also when you look at the different types of advertising the companies do which would you rather have? Coke has little cartoon characters and polar bears who drink Coca Cola. Its cute. But look at the latest Pepsi ad. A little girl walks into a store looking all cute and stuff and asks for a Pepsi. When the person at the store says that they only have Coke her sweet darling little voice magically changes into the agressive New York accented voice of an offended Joe Pesci who yells at the poor store keeper about how he doesn’t know the difference between a pepsi and a coke. Then some guy who’s afraid of a six year old girl gets her a pepsi and she says in her cute voice, "I like this place." I just can’t respect a company that makes an obvious and lame attempt to put down their competitors. And I’ve just been reminded of the Spice Girls pitch for Pepsi, now that was lame. And above all, when the wild titmice drink coke, they cry: "PINCHEM!"

it's a myth, man. Don't believe the hype.

Mark, you're my hero. :-)

I am very curious: every single message in this thread is rated a 1. Enough times, and that has a negative effect on your points. It's meant to be used to discourage pointless posts, but it seems to abused all over devhood (not just in this thread). Since only Archers and above have the ability to do rate these messages, I'm a little surprised that members who'd earn so many points would abuse such a privelege. If you'd check the music thread, random messages get ratings of 1, whereas others with practically identical content are left alone.
This disturbs me.

NOTE: This message was rated a 1 in less than 1 minute.

Ok so yea you can use coke to clean the corrsion from a car battery... i've done it before. But doesn't this just make coke that much better? I mean not only does it taste good, mix good, and clean gunk off of batteries it also:
Clean toilets(pour a can of it into toilet, let sit for one hour and flush)
Remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers(Rub the bumper with a crumpled up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coke.)
Bake a moist ham(empty a can of coke into baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil and bake. 30 mins before finished remove foil allowing the drippings to mix with the coke for a sumptuous brown gray.)
Remove grease from clothes(empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, run through a regular cycle. The coke will loosen the grease stains.)
So its obvious that coke is as important to humans as water... I may even go as far as to say that it can be considered ambrosia.

NOTE: this note was rated 1 in about a min too... I'd almost think that someone has some type of bot that automaticly rates a message shortly after subitting.

and about the rating thing...
The FAQ clearly says:
The rating system should not be used as a measure of:
whether you agree or disagree with the poster's opinion of "the cutest girl", "favorite band", or "operating system of choice." (in our case favorite softdrink)
how much you dislike the person
None of the messages in here can be considered "meaningless blather" or "abusive" so I wonder what the deal is?
