Well my favorite movie ever would have to be the matrix. Its got such a great storyline, and the special effects were insane. I can't wait for the sequals!!!!

I concur. The Matrix broke new ground with its special effects and the plot/storyline was good enough to have you coming back for more. I would list it as my favorite for its special effects. There are other "better" movies out there, but as far as pure entertainment, that would be it.

Well I think I will have to say Gladiator not in visual effects maybe but it is definetly one of the bests in acting and creating an atmosphere. Its soundtrack was really good also

I'm gonna go back a bit farther and say Top Gun . . . while the special effects aren't much by today's standards, that's the first movie I remember seeing that had everything . . . good action, "drama", and a good ending . . .

I am actually surprised that no one had classic titles, I am happy as well, because most people here chose Citizen Kane and 12 Angry Men and stuff like that... Happy I saw some diverse answers.

Well....I don't have a favorite movie...but I have a favorite set of movies....I am definitely a fan of the original StarWars trilogy......it was amazing for its time...and I think that the plot was great.....I have to say that after seeing episode one, I was quite disappointed....I hope Lucas can redeem himself in episode 2.....

Out of all the movies I have seen, my favorite has to be The Matrix also. There are so many aspects to the movie that are top of the line. The storyline is one of those where you have to watch it a couple times to realy understand whats going on, but it also is good enough to where you can understand it for the most part by only watching it once. The foreshadowing and irony are both wonderful. Most people dont catch it the first or even the second time they watch it. I had to read most of the stuff and then go back and watch it again to catch it. The special effects are also top of the line.

My favorite movie of all time is a tough question. I'd probably have to go with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. But it's so tough to really choose merely one.
Top 5(in no particular order):
1. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
2. The Matrix
3. The Shawshank Redemption
4. Gladiator
5. Dumb and Dumber

The original STAR WARS TRILOGY! Hands Down. Not only were the special effects revolutionary for its time but it has effected main stream pop culture ever since day one. The Fellowship of the Ring is a close second and then The Matrix comes in thrid. You just can't beat Star Wars. ;-P

I agree with the movies that Todd placed in the Top 5 except for Dumb and Dumber, but I don't agree with the order. Here is my Top 5 (in order):
1. The Matrix
2. Gladiator
3. The Shawshank Redeption (it's on TV so often, you can't put it up here)
4. The whole Indiana Jones series
5. All of Star Wars to date

Call me sentimental but I think that the best movie ever was What Dreams May Come
I am sure many of you have not heard of it but it stared Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr.
I had amazing effects and was all about life after death and true love.

I actually heard that movie and many people who saw it recommended it highly, however for some reason it was never showed in my country, and I never had the chance to watch it... Do you know if it is out on the DVD?

I'd have to say American Beauty by far. That movie had so much depth to it and it was so well done.
