I am interested in what eveyone thought of the new Halo 2 trailer and Windows Media 9 Series. If you have not seen it, you are required to download the Windows Media 9 Series Beta player since the Halo 2 Trailer uses the new Windows Media Audio Pro CODEC.
I thought it looked great. I realized though that either my CPU is too slow now, or the compression of the Halo 2 trailer is not enough! Again, if you haven't seen it, you can either download the trailer (31 MB) or stream it (still 31 MB). It plays back at 1500 kbps (which according to Microsoft would put that at better than DVD quality video!). My computer chugged on it, but it gave me a chance to see some great views of the game.

That's one heck of a trailer--for a second I thought that the Master Chief was going to burn up on re-entry! Kidding aside, the cinematic was absolutely beautiful. I'd like to see some video of actual gameplay, however. Anybody know any teasers as to the storyline (other than Master Chief kicks Covenant butt and saves humanity)?

The trailer was pretty cool. Apparently the used the actual game engine to create and render the trailor (rumor? i don't know). I was wishing for some actual gameplay as well. Someone on teamxbox said it is based on Earth. sort of post apocalyptic or something. For how good the trailer was, I think the game will be better.

Well from the radio chatter you can tell it is Earth. Apparently the Covenant found it, and are in the middle of exterminating the human race... the trailer was pretty cool. One bad thing though... it came out too early, cause I want to play this game now!

Hopefully, if the game is set on earth, there will be a greater variety of maps. The maps in Halo were great, don't get me wrong, I just think they were a little repetitive.

Hands down I think that Halo is the best CONSOLE first person shooter to date... however there are a few things that I think will need to be a must in Halo 2 if its going to really blow away the many FPS's for the PC. Like Ammon said, maps will be a must. In the PC world maps are a dime a dozen... simply go to a site and download it into the game. I think that Halo 2 should incorporate this in some fashion for its multiplayer maps. It doesn't take that long to memorize a hand full of maps. Next would have to be the addition of NPC's or bots. One of the (many) strong points of Quake3 was that you could add or remove bots at will. I want to play the multiplayer games with people online AND a few bots. Example: My friend and I want to get a Slayer going but decide not to because we are stuck doing 1 on 1. I realize that most people won't get their hands on a SDK anytime soon but wouldn't it be nice to go to bungie and download different player models to incorporate into a fragfest? For that matter the previous mentioned maps and maybe even bots if they want to distribute them that way. I don't think that comparing a console FPS and a PC FPS is like comparing apples and oranges so I feel pretty confident in stating that the xbox has the potential to steal away a huge chunk of PC FPS fans and make them console diehards if issues like the aforementioned get resolved.

The Halo 2 trailer is quite amazing, I can't wait for the game to be released. Any ideas when the final release will come out? This is one game I can't wait to see on the store shelves.

Unfortunately, I believe that Halo 2 isn't due for another year. Last I heard was that it's coming out late 2003. At least there's a lot of good games coming out this November. They ought to hold me until Halo 2 is out.

Halo 2 looks to be an awesome game. I hope, no, rather, I know it will live up to expectations. I just wish that the trailer didn't take three hours to download on my dial-up modem, not to mention the time it takes to download the Media Player Beta

Did you know, the new Master Chief is composed of fewer polygons?
<edit> Than in the first Halo</edit>
